By the City of Upper Arlington
The Upper Arlington Cultural Arts Division is pleased to announce work by artist Leah Wong of Sherrie Gallerie, artist Betsy Chrisman and the City of Upper Arlington’s Portrait of An American Town Collection on view through Arts in Work Spaces from October through December 2008. A creative art partnership program with Upper Arlington businesses, Arts in Works Spaces is on view at the following three Upper Arlington locations: Arlington Bank, 4621 Reed Rd., Caspian II building, 3518 Riverside Dr. and at National Church Residences located at 2335 North Bank Dr.
At Arlington Bank, enjoy works created by local artist Leah Wong, who is represented by Sherrie Gallerie in Columbus’ Short North. Leah’s paintings are colorful and imaginative, created using paper cuts and acrylic paint.
Elizabeth Chrisman’s paintings will travel to a new location to National Church Residences. Elizabeth’s medium is acrylic paint on paper and is often combined with enamel paint and hand-colored stamps. Elizabeth says in her artist statement her paintings “reflect how we, as a society, live our lives: constantly on the move, constantly busy, never standing still long enough to reflect on life’s beauty. My work helps me make sense of my day-to-day living in a hectic, uncertain world.”
In addition to these displays, enjoy reminiscing about Upper Arlington with images of the Portrait of An American Town at the Caspian II building. Portrait of An American Town is a collection of photographs documenting the events and details that have created Upper Arlington's unique history. If you enjoy the images on display at Caspian II, visit the permanent display in the Arlington Hall Gallery. The gallery is located in the lower level of the Municipal Services Center, 3600 Tremont Rd. It is free and open to the public Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
