It might be changing its address, but organizers at the Welcome Warehouse in Dublin are asking the community to keep it in mind this holiday season.
The non-profit organization, which provides clothes and other items to local needy families, will leave its current headquarters on Shier-Rings Road in January for a place with more amenities, says President Julie Fletcher. The non-profit’s first location, while a donated space, does not have the features the organization needs.
“The space didn’t have air conditioning or heat, and it wasn’t totally sealed,” she says. “It has served its purpose, but it’s not the ideal environment. We want to create an environment where we can bring families to get their clothes.”
Welcome Warehouse will move into a house at 6325 Brand Rd., which is next door to and owned by Indian Run United Methodist Church. With bathrooms, heat, and air conditioning, Fletcher says the new location will benefit the organization tremendously.
“It may be similar in square feet to where we were, but it will be a much more prideful environment for the families we serve and our volunteers,” she says.
Welcome Warehouse’s move will be just part of its already busy holiday season. It will run its third annual “Adopt a Family” program, and will continue drop-off dates for community donations. Fletcher says Welcome Warehouse will complete its move by Jan. 17, its only drop-off date that month.
Welcome Warehouse is currently seeking volunteers to help through the season.
