There are plenty of things going on throughout the city this week. Here are CityScene's top five picks for March 12-19:


1. Old Blue Eyes...
CAPA presents “Simply Sinatra” at 8 p.m. March 12 at the Southern Theatre, 21 E. Main St. Steve Lippia takes his audience back in time with a show-stopping repertoire of popular big band and classic American pop, expertly delivering standards permanently engraved in music history such as I’ve Got You Under My Skin, The Lady is a Tramp, Mack the Knife, Just the Way You Are, and more.

CAPA also welcomes Altan, one of the most popular traditional Irish acts in the world, at 7 p.m. March 14 at the Southern Theatre, 21 E. Main St. Visit www.capa.com.

The Ohio Historical Society commemorates its founding 125 years ago with a free celebration March 13 at the Ohio Historical Center, 1982 Velma Ave. The center will be open for free all day, and will feature society milestones from 1885 to 2010. Uncommon Ohio tours will feature Ohio’s Garden Path at noon and 2 p.m., and exhibitions Nature of Ohio and Ohio: Centuries of Change will be on display. 3. Fashionable Support.
Saks Fifth Avenue and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra League are hosting a Spring Style Show from 5-9 p.m. March 18 to benefit the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. The show will be held in the Upper Level of Saks Fifth Avenue at Polaris Fashion Place, and will also include refreshments and live music. While you’re out supporting causes, check out The Pleasure Guild of Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s production of The Music Man, March 12-14 at the Palace Theatre, 34 W. Broad St. This theatrical production raises funds for the hospice program at the hospital. Visit www.pleasureguild.org.

Also, COSI’s annual fundraising gala, “Imagination Celebration,” is from 7-11 p.m. March 13 at COSI, 333 W. Broad St. The event includes dinner, live and silent auctions and entertainment. Visit www.cosi.org.

4. Things Are Cookin’ Now …
The Columbus Museum of Art’s Chef Showdown 2010 is March 12 at St. Charles Preparatory School, 2010 E. Broad St. Participating chefs include Chef Richard Blondin of The Refectory Restaurant and Bistro; Chef John Bruckelmeyer of Brio Tuscan Grille Polaris; Chef Erin Chittum of Cameron Mitchell's "M;" and Chef Donald Wood of the museum's own Palette Café. Guests will be served the inspired culinary creations while viewing the original artwork, which includes works by Matisse, Pierre, Gerome and Gleizes. It’s time to celebrate all things Irish. Dublin’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration is from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. March 13 throughout Historic Dublin, and includes a parade, entertainment, food and more. Visit www.irishisanattitude.com.
