A Time to Cut (Foot) Loose
Lancaster Festival featuring Wynonna, Kenny Loggins

The 24th annual Lancaster Festival will be headlined by country megastar Wynonna and pop singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins. The event runs July 17-26.


Artistic Director Gary Sheldon returns for his 21st season as conductor of the Lancaster Festival Orchestra. This year’s Festival, titled A Season of Firsts, includes repertoire, artists and programming never before featured at the event, as well as a historic recording of the Festival Orchestra’s debut CD.

 

Also returning are popular favorites like the Friday night ArtWalk gallery hop, daily bandstand performances and Festival Fair Day at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds.

Violinist Tai Murray, recent award winner of the Avery Fisher Prize, and bassist Evan Premo, this summer’s Wilkes Young Artist Fellow, headline a program of brilliant young virtuosi on opening night at St. Mary Church. (Ticket prices: $25 patron, $20 adult, $10 student/senior).

Wynonna takes the stage July 19 at Ohio University-Lancaster to entertain with classic country hits like Mama He’s Crazy and Why Not Me. The Lancaster Festival Orchestra opens with an Olympic salute and concludes with fireworks. (Tickets prices: $30, $25 table seats; $15 adult lawn, $20 at gate, $5 student/children).

On July 20, cellist Maya Beiser presents Almost Human, a thrilling multicultural multimedia experience spanning music, film, lighting and the spoken word. (Ticket prices: $15 adult, $10 children).

July 22, clarinet virtuoso Richard Stoltzman joins the Lancaster Festival Orchestra in a blend of classics and jazz. This performance, a preview of the Orchestra’s debut CD, will include works of American composer, William Bolcom in Faith Memorial Church. (Ticket prices: $20 patron, $15 adult, $10 student/senior).

The Festival concludes July 26 with a performance by pop icon Kenny Loggins, as he draws from his extensive pop culture repertoire including movie soundtrack favorites like Footloose and I’m Alright, as well as the children’s classic House at Pooh Corner. The Lancaster Festival Orchestra opens with an energizing set of dance music and closes with a fireworks extravaganza.
